Underserved communities are disproportionately affected by kidney disease and its leading causes. African Americans and Latinos are 4 times more likely to develop a renal diagnosis and 9 times less likely to catch the disease in its early stages. Asian Americans and Native Americans are also negatively impacted and at an increased risk due to the increased rate of obesity, hypertension, and diabetes; the leading causes of kidney disease.Urban Music Initiative - Artists
Kaye Styles, born in Ghana - 8th November 1981 - immigrated with his parents from West Africa to Belgium (Europe) at the age of 5. It was the start of a difficult time and journey for this little child. His parents got deported from Belgium and Kaye had to live hidden for 3 years without getting official papers from the government. Not only his color was different, also the way of living in Europe wasn’t easy for this young African child. Music was his way of escaping the world, his way of communicating and reaching other people.
In his teen years Kaye (his friends called him ‘K’ short for Kwasi) started to go out at parties and clubs and noticed that some dj’s brought an mc with them. Kaye saw it wasn’t only the music that got the party started, also the mc contributed his share and people were responding to what he was saying. Kaye felt that this was his thing to do.
At the age of 22 Kaye recorded his first demo song ‘Crazy’. Mostiko (Cnr Records), a major record label in Europe, immediately recognized Kaye’s talent and offered him a 5 album deal. Kaye started recording his own songs with professional producers and engineers. 3 months later, the summer of 2004, Kaye flew to Los Angeles to shoot his first video clip ‘Gimme the Mic’. 'Gimme the Mic' became a top 20 European Billboard hit and people wanted to hear more from this new artist. Kaye’s first album titled ‘True Definition of Styles’ saw the light in October 2004. The record company released 2 other singles of the 'true definition of styles' album and they both reached the top 50 billboard. Kaye Styles started touring all over Belgium, Holland, Germany, France and Morocco, reaching and touching fans in places he never dreamed off. He got nominated for the 1st time on the MTV Belgian music awards 2004 for best R&B .
Still the best was yet to come. In the beginning of 2006 Kaye received a phone call from the U.S television group Fox asking if Kaye would be interested in doing the soundtrack for the PRISON BREAK series in Belgium (Europe). Kaye Styles accepted the offer and made the song ‘Prison Break Anthem’ … Prison Break Anthem hit the stores and entered the sales charts at n 40 , jumped to 11 and peaked at nr. 3. It stayed in the top 10 for 14 weeks and became the second biggest airplay hit in Belgium 2006. 'Prison Break Anthem' appeared on his third album.
After touring all over Europe in the beginning of 2007, Kaye Styles decided that the U.S and the Caribbean countries should be the new musical adventure they should aim for and in the process has found a way to express his gratitude to his fans by supporting the Urban Music Initiative as he migrates his career into the US. He believes it is an amazing way to give back to a people that struggle from such a debilitating disease.
“DREAMS DO COME TRUE, EVEN WHEN LIFE TREATS YOU DIFFERENTLY AT FIRST”
Snipe is a name that articulates the motivation and determination of one’s
inner ego and yet exposes his deepest perspective on music. His name gives a
deeper analogy to “ aim and shoot with great precision”. Which his music proves
the statement that Snipe aim’s for great success without the thought of being
fatigued from the past accomplishments former camp Chopper City Boys.April 18, 1981 Travis “Snipe” Edwards was born being raised with a tough loving mother that cares deeply for respect and discipline. On the count of Snipe’s father barely participating in his life as a young man. Snipe saw his mother struggle and work day and night so he aimed for success giving hope to his family, until this day he gives full credentials and love to his mother.
He started rapping at the age seventeen but took it serious at the age of twenty. Being motivated by 2pac and Notorious Big and being taught by the true messages they delivered. Snipe felt his message should be heard from that day. Snipe would like to thank Corey aka C-Boy R.I.P that introduced him to Troy Lawrence his first manager. Troy took consideration in his music and introduced him to B.G. and Snipe started seeing B.G as a big brother in the game. The murder of V.L was very devastating it was like losing a sibling, but Snipe had to keep moving forward due to the fact V.L would have wanted him to have a better life and stay away from the streets.
Snipe being a former member of C.C.B Travis had learned a lot from B.G. who taught him that the industry is dog eat dog world and loyalty is a prime factor. He feels that the lord will guide him through the ruff experiences the industry have to offer and wants to show the world the talent he was blessed with. Snipe mainly focused on his message in his music and he swiftly tries to touch all generations gracefully. He separates himself from artist who seems to be accounted for having negative attributes in the media or being compared to other artist style of music.
His goal is to cater to every race of people with his mixtape “Dealer” which provides one of his hot singles “Body Hot.” The melody of the chorus was inspired by the great Earth Wind and Fire. He is determined to bring his new sound to every part of the world his music can reach. Snipe’s closing statement was whatever you set your mind to can be done but you miss out on a hundred percent of the shots you don’t take in the music game. “For the younger generation it’s better to fail on originality than to succeed in imitation. back to top
From live bands to synthesized club music, the Midwest’s music identity spans pop to soul, country to jazz, rock to Hip Hop. In Minnesota specifically, legendary musicians like Prince and the band Mint Condition branded the state internationally through years of quality music. In 2008, young rapper Envy is poised to bring even more positive attention to the Minneapolis sound with his own brand of radio-friendly Hip Hop. After debuting at #3 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart, and hitting #1 on the Hip Hop/R&B Single Sales chart, Envy’s single “Ringtone” enjoyed an impressive five-week run on the Hot Single Sales charts, hitting #16 in early June. Envy began his rap career very early in life. When he was only 10-years-old, his sister taught him how to put the words together, and compliments came from every direction as the budding MC honed his skills. Sadly, Envy’s sister passed away when he was just 17, which gave him even more reason to take the music seriously. He entered open mics and rap battles to get his weight up in the Minnesota scene, and eventually the work paid off as more people began to recognize his artistry. Now Envy is determined to set the industry on fire!!!

"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt
anything- Van Gogh"
Mike Olson was born on January 9th, 1988 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Growing up, Mike was always the center of attention, and deeply
devoted to music. Through high school, Mike would create demos of
music he was recording, and sell it in the hallways to students. By
junior year, he was performing original songs any chance he had,
either in talent shows, or homecoming dances. Popular to his
classmates, Mike was voted "Most Likely To Succeed".
Mike teamed up with a local artist and producer named Farris Glover,
and a very lyrical emcee named Deandre Guilmant, Dre G for short. The three formed immediately and created the group, Glory. After
introducing themselves to the downtown party scene, Glory started
performing shows at local hot spots, the legendary roots of Prince,
Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and The Family. After creating local buzz, Glory was featured on local radio stations, recording with local,
rising hip hop artists, and toasting champagne with the owners of
local nightclubs. Along with recording original material, Farris,
and Mike produced many tracks for many different local artists,
becoming two of the most sought after producers in Minneapolis.
After a few years of recording in Mike's parents basement, Mike
decided to put himself through school for a degree in Audio
Production and Engineering at Minneapolis Media Institute, formally
Masters Recording Institute, but most importantly, Flyte Time
Studios. Mike quickly stood out amongst his classmates and was
learning from Grammy Award Winning engineers and producers: Tom
Tucker and Paul & Ricky Peterson. During one of his finals, Mike
was asked by his engineering idol, Tom Tucker, if they could mix one
of Mike's songs together. Mike accepted. While being in school, Mike
received credits from working on the demo of American Idol
contestant, Casey Carlson, and local rock group, The Pines.
Along with the talent of engineering, Mike also produces, writes,
records, performs, and even creates the album artwork to any
project he does. On top of all the talent and potential, he is 22
years old. Mike works for Best Buy full time, attends school full
time, and records new material any time in between. He has made a
lot of contacts with powerful people in his home state, and
continues to go above and beyond the expectations from those
around him. Glory has since teamed up with The Shad Ireland
Foundation, donating 100% of the publishing rights of their hit
song, "From The Top", in order to increase awareness of kidney
disease and to better serve the world in which we live. They are fine
young men driven for success, and built to withstand the long haul
of a journey for true happiness.
Farris "Veguz" Glover
"Imitation is suicide. Do yourself instead of something, or
someone else"- unknown
“Veguz” born Farris Glover II on July 4th, 1988, is an American
hiphop artist that is from Minneapolis, MN. Music has always
been a huge part of his life, and has molded the artist and the
person he is today. He began to write poetry and spoken word
after his parents divorced in 1995. He said “it was a way to cope
with the pain, and is a lot better than taking it out on himself
or on someone else!” He has worked with various artist around
the twin cities, but found a connection with local artists
Michael “M.I.” Olson and Deandre “Dre G” Guilmant. The trio go
by the name Glory, and they perform all throughout the twin
cities area. He is determined to become both successful
musically as well as business wise and feels he has a great
team surrounding him. He feels that him and his team will
surely take over music soon and become a house hold name
within the next year.
De'andre "Dre G." Guilmant
"The young do not know enough to be prudent, and
therefore they attempt the impossible,-- and achieve it,
generation after generation.". -Pearl S. Buck.
Dre G born De'Andre Guilmant on July 18 1990 in Minneapolis is
a determined up and coming Minnesota emcee. Growing up he had
an evolved outlook on life, which made it very easy for him to
express his various opinions on a variety of subjects. Since he
was 10 he's had a knack for poetry and creating stories with a
meaning. When he was about 14 he started creating a series of
homemade mix tapes with a friend and distributed them at his
school. Talent shows and halftime performances became his
venues of choice. During his senior year in high school, he
started becoming serious about his focus on being the voice of
Minnesota hip hop. "I feel like Minnesota is being heard but not
listened to yet"-- Dre G. When asked what his biggest influences
are when making a song he responded saying "expressing
emotions we ALL feel daily, and explaining them on something
you can snap your fingers and nod your head to".
He met with Mike "M.I." Olson and Farris "Veguz" Glover
together forming the musical masterpiece known as Glory.
Although Dre is considered the "baby" of the group, he has far
from an infants flow. His lyrical ability can be explained as
complex and confident, being full of a certain consistency of
bold statements. He is easily recognized when featuring on any
track with his signature deep voice and manic variety of flows.
His lyrics have an undertone of dominance that cannot be
ignored and demands to be accepted. His mind is a maze that he opens for all his fans with every song and invites them into his
world. Accompanying Glory on their movement to the top of the
hip hop community, Dre G plans on offering a one of a kind
experience through his music.
He's a very motivated young man that seems to feed off the
skepticisms and doubts that others offer him. "If they believed I
could do it before I did it.. How would they know when I get it
done?"-- Dre g.

To be very successful, to be inspiring, make lots of money so family wouldn’t have to worry, make history, perform at MTV or BET Music Awards, make a difference in the lives of others, never forget who I am, and always stay positive.
Background:
Started doing shows June 13th of 2009, done 40+ shows since then, opened up for “The Dream”, “Ray J and Yung Berg”, got Yung Berg on a song that has not been released yet. I hooked up with Triple Seis who was a former member of “Terror Squad” I went to New York and performed downtown Manhattan the shot over to New Jersey and performed in a Latin Club out there. Triple Seis Hooked me up with his boy “Jaysun” who is working with Def Jam on a record deal check out whoisjaysun.com. I have a couple tracks with Triple Seis and Jaysun that have not been released yet as well. These are some of my biggest moments that make me proud of the direction I am heading in. I have done numerous amounts of shows since then, I work with who I think is Minnesota’s number one DJ “DJ Dmill” at SPStlyes.com
I started doing all these shows with a group I created called “Dolo City Boys” but like most good things that came to an end after a successful 9months in the making. I was the writer and creator of all tracks that we recorded and booked every show we ever did, I learned from the experience and grew stronger from the lack of loyalty within the group. So now I have turned a new page and plan to focus on my solo career as an artist no regrets it is all part of the learning process.
New Days Bring New Dreams- Dream Big.
Ina Escobar has been writing and recording since the age of fifteen. Ten years
later, the Atlanta native refuses to let her craft skip a beat. In the past decade she
has blossomed explosively. Growing up she has performed and recorded under
multiple stage names such as “Mami Montana” or “Coca-Ina” however, slowly yet
methodically, she learned that not only do the years mature you mentally and
physically but in her case, lyrically and creatively.
Ina is a Renegade mix of Latino, Caribbean, Jewish, Turkish and Mayan descent.
She glorifies being what she calls a “mutt” and insists it is her parents who have
helped her to become the open-minded free spirit she is today. Still, early in her life
Ina experienced horrific mind-bending trials. Here, thankfully, she discovered her
special gift for creating inner survival strength: writing. Quickly, she would outrun
basic survival and master the power of expression through literary work and
music.
As a Georgia State University student Atlanta fame came Ina’s way while cohosting
the award winning Rhythm & Vibes Hip Hop show on the 100,000 watt
college station. When she wasn’t busy studying for a degree in Journalism or
interviewing everyone from KRS-ONE to Royce da 5’9 she was also working parttime
at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Center. Here, she worked on projects
promoting peace around the world while being blessed with amazing opportunities
to be around dignitaries like Mandela, Mahatma Ghandi’s Grandson, and even
participating in a roundtable with U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. David Satcher. All
while slipping in time for pictures with former President Carter and the First Lady.
Today, Ina is a well rounded burst of extreme energy. She can go in any direction
musically and diversity is seemingly endless with this young woman. She has
worked with producers such as Focus from Aftermath, Tricky Stewart of RedZone and NeoDaMatrix to name a few. She has rocked out venues like B.B. Kings Blues
Club and S.O.B.s in NYC with the likes of Immortal Technique, Joell Ortiz, Tony
Touch, Pitbull and the list goes on. Ina has graced the stage along with the top
DJ's and continues to verbally deliver her best on numerous mixtapes around the
country.
Ina’s bold presence on the up and coming “Multiplicity” is beyond intense. Every
song covers reality-based issues and concepts with a fierce story-telling delivery
that is sure to keep you coming back for more. Her multiple personalities and alter
egos leave you side-struck and sometimes speechless with the witty and emotional
flows that come out of this 5 foot 1, 120 pound strong young lady. With such a
diverse background and real life experiences on her shoulder, Ina’s music remains
truly universal. The Debut Album “Multiplicity” is due to explode on the
scene November 2010 and when it does: you will surely find enough music to
mystify your heart and soul for a long time to come.
